Seastate is a demonstration build: a WordPress site organized around live public data rather than around a brochure.
Every figure on this site is rendered by the server before the page is sent. There is no loading state, no layout shift, and the page is complete and correct with JavaScript disabled — which you can verify by turning it off.
The charts are inline SVG computed in PHP, with no charting library. The map is a coastline path baked at build time from public-domain Natural Earth data, with no tile server and no third-party requests. Both were deliberate: a charting library and a map library would together have cost more bandwidth than the entire rest of the page, for a result nobody would have called better.
Data is ingested on a schedule rather than on pageview, stored in a purpose-built table rather than in post meta, and pruned on a retention window. The about the data page covers sources and limitations; the status page shows the pipeline’s current health.
